Super female jazz collaboration of Jazmin Ghent and Phylicia Rae.
Dr. Jazmin Ghent is an award-winning international jazz saxophonist and educator. Over her brief career, she has become a decorated leader for the new generation of jazz, R&B, and gospel. Jazmin’s start in the jazz industry was the Show Your Talent competition aboard the Smooth Jazz Cruise (2014).
Jazmin has 6 top 5 Billboard singles, including Kickin’ It Up, Stride, Amends, Work Wit It, Heat and Compared to What. The songs remained on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Airplay Chart for 20+ weeks and received heavy rotation on major jazz stations including Sirius XM Watercolors. Her most successful hit, Kickin It Up, was #1 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Airplay Chart. Jazmin has performed at some of the most prestigious festivals and venues such as The Dave Koz Cruise (Australia 2019 and Spain 2023), Brian Culbertson’s Napa Valley Jazz Getaway (2019 and 2023), Newport Beach Jazz Festival (2016 and 2021), Long Beach Jazz Festival, Mallorca Smooth Jazz Festival, Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival, Berks Jazz Festival, Catalina Island Jazztrax (2016, 2017, 2018, 2022), Punta Cana Jazz Festival, Cancun Jazz Festival, Low Country Jazz Festival, Seabreeze Jazz Festival, Lake Arbor Jazz Festival, Barbados Jazz Festival, Stockton Jazz Festival and the Capital Jazz Cruise to name a few.
Phylicia Rae is a rising star in the smooth jazz genre who is stepping out in full force. She has been greatly influenced by the late great Wayman Tisdale and Julian Vaughn. Born and raised in Rochester, New York.
Her first single as a solo artist “Just Like That” was released in September 2020, followed by her national debut with her second single “Told You So” which received steady airplay on national radio stations as well as internet radio across the country. Phylicia’s third single “That’s It” ferociously climbed the Billboard “New and Active” chart establishing herself as one of the young talented vanguards of the contemporary jazz genre.
In 2021 Phylicia Rae joined as the newest member of the group Jazz In Pink headed by Gail Johnson and signed to the Next Paradigm label. Since then she has shared the stage with many amazing artists in the smooth jazz genre such as Kim Scott and Jacob Webb. In 2022 Phylicia became the co-founder of the jazz series “Next Paradigm Live”, bringing in top jazz icons such as Lin Rountree, Marcus Anderson, Kim Scott, Phillip Doc Martin, Art Sherrod Jr. and many others. Today Phylicia is breaking down the boundaries of the this genre, inspiring younger female musicians that dreams can come true!
